PACK COMMITTEES AND THEIR JOB DESCRIPTIONS

PACK 117 IS A VERY ACTIVE PACK. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH OUR EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES.
IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP TO HELP WITH A COMMITTEE,  PLEASE CONTACT THE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, WADE ADAMS, OR THE CUBMASTER, PATRICK EGAN, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND COMMITMENT TO PACK #117.

Please note:

  • Some activities require a tour permit when the activity is not held at our usual meeting places such as Buckeye Elementary or Miller's  Hill Schools.

  • All events need to have one of the pack first aid kits, even if you have your own.

  • All events need budget approval and leaders must adhere to that budget.

  • All activities should work to achieve the aim of scouting -- citizenship training, character development and personal fitness.

It can also include an introduction to the "Heroes of our Community" with demonstrations from the local Police and Fire departments.  This event can be a Pack-wide trail ride, or a bike obstacle course.

Fishing Day is a day when the Pack goes Fishing!  This involves selecting a location suitable for the entire pack to fish.  Scout water safety is taught in addition to learning the proper techniques to catch a fish. This event is often combined with the Pack Hike. A location that worked well in the past is Wrights Lake but the committee is welcome to organize this event at another location of choice. Locations that did not work well are any paid fishing holes.

fundraising (POPCORN)

Popcorn sales are the packs' largest and most important fundraising efforts.  Popcorn is what pays for the Pack Awards and events and activities for the entire year.  Popcorn requires a very organized person as you have to track and record each boy’s sales.  You will also have to set-up and coordinate 'show and sell' locations and popcorn pickup from the distributor.   This Committee also is responsible for helping with the cake auction at the Blue and Gold Dinner.  Other fundraising opportunities may arise throughout the year.
